“It was such a pleasure to visit Mrs. Purcell’s Biomedical Science class at Russell Technology Center in Greenwood, SC. The students were fantastic—engaged, curious, and full of thoughtful questions.
I spoke about oncology, the importance of a thorough patient evaluation, and the growing role of next-generation sequencing and liquid biopsy in cancer care. Mr. Purcell also shared his inspiring journey and his research on cancer vaccine development, which the students absolutely loved.
This was an outstanding group of motivated young people. Their enthusiasm gives me so much hope for the future of healthcare in our community. I truly hope some of them will return to Greenwood and join us at amazing Self Regional hospital one day.”
