Anbu Paramasivam: Day 1 of Prevention Conference 2024
Anbu Paramasivam, Research Programme Manager in Prevention and Population research at Science and Innovation at Cancer Research UK, shared on X:
“What an impactful Day 1 of an inaugural annual conference it was at Prevention Conference 24!
Starting off with an amazing keynote talk by Karen Canfell to help set the mind on the importance of line of sight to patient/public benefit.
Followed an immersive deep dive into the growing mechanistic understand of cancer aetiology as routes to exploit ahead for precision prevention.
Then a networking session encouraging breaking disciplinary, specialism and geographical barriers to enable future collaborative approaches (only slightly dampen by the footie).
Ending the day with a thought provoking session on why inequalities in cancer prevention/incidences can’t be an after thought at but needs to be considered from the very beginning.
Thank you to all the amazing chairs, speakers, flash talk presenters, posters and engaged attendees.
Just loved the energy, passion and the sheer enthusiasm in the jammed packed room!
Makes me even more excited for the start of Day 2 – covering obesity, patient/public involvement, early dissemination and the 1st of our lighthearted yet thought provoking debates.
Buckle up folks!”
