“EXCITING NEWS: Oncology Residency Program at Marcelle Ruth Cancer Centre
Marcelle Ruth Cancer Centre and Specialist Hospital (MRCC) is thrilled to announce its accreditation by the National Postgraduate Medical College (NPMC) to offer Residency programs in Clinical and Radiation Oncology.
At a press briefing at the Ministry of Health in Abuja, Dr. Modupe Elebute-Odunsi Co-Founder and CEO MRCC, expressed her joy at being the first private hospital in Nigeria to achieve this milestone. ‘We are delighted to participate in capacity building to increase the number of Oncology specialists by providing first-class postgraduate training within the country,’ she said.
This initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 17 to improve capacity building. We extend our gratitude to Dr. Tunji Alausa, Minister of State for Health (MOSH), represented today by Dr. Lola Adeyemi, Senior Special Adviser on Research and Innovation, for his pivotal role and policies to enable this innovative collaboration between private and public health stakeholders to widen access to postgraduate training.
Special thanks also to Prof. Dr. Wasiu Lanre Adeyemo, CMD of Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) and Prof. Fatiu Arogundade, College Registrar of the National Postgraduate College of Nigeria, for their invaluable support to create this residency program.
At Marcelle Ruth, we understand the responsibility that comes with this accreditation and are in the process of creating, together with international partners, an outstanding curriculum comparable with institutions worldwide.
Details of the selection criteria and application process will be available shortly via our HR department. We encourage training partners and other stakeholders to join us in shaping the future of oncology care in Nigeria and beyond…”
