“Concluding the “Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Principles in Cancer Care” event in Romania!
From June 3rd to June 12th, researchers, healthcare providers, and patient organizations gathered for impactful sessions organized by Youth Cancer Europe and Inclusive Employers Ltd., under the EUCAYASNET project.
SIOP Europe contributed to the EDI conversations during the patient advocate sessions over the last two days.
Yesterday discussed:
- Developing cultural awareness. How can cultural differences affect how we deliver cancer care?
Today discussed:
- What are the challenges young patients face during their cancer care?
- What is the role of patient advocate?
- Why is patient advocacy important in cancer care?
- Who are the stakeholders in inclusive cancer care?
- Inspiring others trough inclusion training and discussion
The event unveiled the “Train the Trainer Toolkit,” empowering patient advocates to bring essential EDI principles back to their institutions.
