Ramy Sedhom: Innovative, important work exploring telehealth v. in-person by Joseph Greer
Ramy Sedhom shared a post by Cristiane D. Bergerot on X, adding the following:
“Innovative, important work exploring telehealth v. in-person. As we absorb the final data (excited to see what it shows) consider a few related issues:
1. Payment parity issues for telehealth services are real issues across many states (commercial payors)
2. Access to specialty PC is limited in rural America
3. Transportation challenges make telehealth appealing, however, broadband access is a forgotten barrier
4. Many middle-aged Americans are the “sandwich generation” – taking care of their elderly parents and their own children (often while working). Joining in-person appointments is a “time toxicity” – time off from work, travel, etc.”
Quoting Cristiane D. Bergerot’s post:
“Who else is excited about the ASCO plenary session? Looking forward to the presentation by Joseph Greer on the comparative effectiveness trial of early Palliative Care delivered via telehealth versus in-person among patients with advanced lung cancer!”
