Lisa Lacasse: Applauding the introduction of the Clinical Trial Modernization Act

Lisa Lacasse shared a post by American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) on LinkedIn:

“Applauding the introduction of the Clinical Trial Modernization Act which can give more patients a chance to enroll in the best treatment options available by reducing barriers to enrollment due to cost and access issues. We are urging Congress to swiftly pass this legislation!”

Quoting American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network’s post:

“The House introduced the Clinical Trial Modernization Act, which would make it easier for all cancer patients to participate in Clinical Trials by removing financial and geographic barriers. Sponsored by Representatives Raul Ruiz and Larry Bucshon, this bipartisan bill would allow trial sponsors to cover costs associated with trial participation, including medical cost-sharing like copays, and non-medical expenses such as travel, parking, food and lodging. Trial sponsors would also be able to provide patients with the necessary technology to facilitate remote participation in clinical trials.

‘Clinical trials are essential for continuing to improve cancer prevention, detection, treatment and survivorship, but are out of reach for far too many patients,’ said Lisa A. Lacasse, president of ACS CAN. ‘The Clinical Trial Modernization Act can give more patients—regardless of how much money they make or where they live—a chance to enroll in the best treatment options available by reducing barriers to enrollment due to cost and access issues.’

We urge Congress to swiftly pass this legislation so that more cancer patients can access lifesaving clinical trials and receive new and better treatment options.”
