Tina Martel: I had the honour of walking in a breast cancer tribute show in Vancouver Fashion Week 2024
Tina Martel, Instructor emeritus Fine Arts at Northwestern Polytechnic, shared on LinkedIn:
“Last week I had the honour of walking in a breast cancer tribute show in Vancouver Fashion Week 2024 with eight other survivors. We walked for Barb, who passed from cancer a few months before the show. The collection was presented by the artists/designers of EWMA/Atira a local organization that works with women who need support and an outlet for creativity. It was an incredible experience, exhilarating and sad.
I am a two time breast cancer survivor who chose to have a double mastectomy without reconstruction. The outfit was cut specifically to fit my ‘flat’ body. I was beyond proud to be able to represent my flat sisters and all of us who have battled this disease. Barb… may you rest in peace.
