“In Ghana, late diagnosis of childhood cancer poses a significant challenge due to a lack of symptom awareness and delays in referrals, which hinder access to essential treatment. Although paediatric cancer is usually not preventable, timely diagnosis and treatment are crucial to increase the chances of survival.
That’s why more than 120 healthcare professionals in Kumasi were equipped with training on early warning signs for childhood cancer and were taught how to make quick referrals using a fit-for-purpose app.”
