Mark Lewis: When patients are waiting for their doctors
Mark Lewis shared a post by Shawn F. Gremminger, President and CEO at the National Alliance of Healthcare Purchaser Coalitions on X/Twitter, adding:
“The last time I ran an hour late an understandably aggrieved patient asked me if I “had been on the golf course or at the steakhouse” (I had been having a hospice discussion) But my honest, confidentiality-respecting answer is always that every patient gets the time they need.”
Quoting Shawn F. Gremminger’s post:
“I’m at the pediatrician office for a well child visit with my daughter. Appointment was 9:20. Vitals taken and paperwork filled out, but still waiting to see a doctor. Reason number 30584 of why healthcare in the US sucks. Why can every other sector keep appts, but physicians can’t?”
