“As a child who lost both parents to cancer, Dr. Patricia LoRusso, American Association for Cancer Research President-Elect shared the following with the AACR24 Scientist-Survivor Program Advocates during our opening session, ‘My enemy has always been cancer. I went into oncology because I wanted to save the children. If could keep that mother or father alive for another year, I would be making a huge impact on the lives of those children.’ She added, ‘We need your voice because you are the community workers who will be able to spread the word of why we do what we do.’ Thank you, Dr. Russo, for the call to action about the role advocates play. We hear you and we are here for you and all researchers.”
