“A standing ovation for NCI‘s very own Dr. Steven Rosenberg who was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at AACR24 for his contributions to cancer research!
Dr. Steven Rosenberg, the Chief of our Surgery Branch and a well-known pioneer in cancer immunotherapy, received a Lifetime Achievement Award today from the American Association for Cancer Research!
This award was established to honor individuals who have made significant fundamental contributions to cancer research. Dr. Rosenberg’s studies of cell transfer immunotherapy using tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) have resulted in durable complete remissions in patients with advanced solid cancers. He has also pioneered the development of gene therapy and was the first to successfully insert foreign genes into humans.
We are fortunate to have him helping us end cancer as we know it at the National Cancer Institute (NCI). Congratulations!”
