Conquering Underfunded and Rare Cancers Through Research – Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation
Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Soft tissue sarcoma is a rare cancer that is genetically diverse, making it hard to find a reliable, one-size-fits-all indicator for recurrence. Conquer Cancer-funded researcher Dr. Abdulazeez Salawu is exploring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) to change that.
In his study, ctDNA was detectable in about 80% of patients at diagnosis, and the levels dropped to zero after surgery in most patients. Then, in nearly all patients, it reappeared weeks before a recurrence showed up on scans.
What’s next? Read more about Dr. Salawu’s rare cancer research.”
