The Max Foundation on World Leukemia Day: How Treatment Access Transforms Communities
The Max Foundation shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Providing treatment for conditions such as leukemia not only helps patients; it equips physicians with the tools they need to care for their communities. Access to treatment strengthens healthcare systems.
Case in point: Ethiopia
When we began supporting leukemia treatment there in 2004, only two hematologists were serving the entire country. Today, 11 hematologist professionals are committed to care. While the need is still huge, this expansion wouldn’t have been possible without access to treatment.
Providing tools fosters a ripple effect to the ecosystem:
- More physicians are trained
- More institutions invest in oncology
- More patients seek care
We’ve seen this impact repeated in many countries over the past 28 years. On World Leukemia Day, we honor our partners, physicians, and patients who demonstrate that hope for the future is possible.”
