Global Summit on War and Cancer: Henrik Grigoryan’s speech on his personal experience as an hematologist/oncologist at the warzone
The 1st Global Summit on War and Cancer took place on 14 – 16 December 2023. It was organized by the Institute of Cancer and Crisis and OncoDaily. Renowned healthcare specialists from all over the world came together to discuss cancer issues at the time of 2020 Nagorno Karabakh war.
We were honored to have Henrik Grigoryan, Pediatric Hematologist Oncologist at the Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, Armenia, as a speaker during the summit where he shared his personal experience as a doctor at the time of the Nagorno Karabakh war.
Dr. Grigoryan introduced the situation in their center during the conflict – difficulties with shortage of doctors and drugs, followed by his way to the border, organizing care and a medical post at the warzone. He ended his speech offering solutions to end the indifference that in his words “is the end”.
Henrik Grigoryan is a Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist at the Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Armenia. He is a Critical Care Medicine Fellow in Yeolyan Hematology and Oncology Center, Yerevan State Medical University.
