Sachin H. Jain: How SCAN Interns Inspired, Taught, and Energized Us This Summer
Sachin H. Jain, President and CEO of SCAN Group and Health Plan, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Congratulations to the amazing SCAN interns for a successful summer with the company.
We employ high school, college, and graduate school paid interns to give them real-world experience in healthcare and (aspirationally) inspire a lifelong interest in serving others.
We also hope that some of these interns will build meaningful relationships that will serve them well when they complete their education.
I was fortunate to benefit from internship programs like ours early in my career.
I still remember the incredible generosity in the form of opportunities provided by some of my earliest internship sponsors – William Schuber (when he was Bergen County Executive), Michael LaQuaglia (at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center during my Bergen County Academies senior experience), Deborah Chollet (when she hosted me as a National Academy of Social Insurance intern at Alpha Center), Don Berwick (who was my college professor and let me intern with him at IHI).
And I was reminded today that I first worked with two SCAN leaders (Zachary Myers and Khin-Kyemon Aung) when they interned with me more than a decade ago. And now benefit richly from their exceptional contributions and leadership at SCAN.
This year’s interns were special.
They worked in nearly every part of the company and are part of the first generation of young people who integrate artificial intelligence into their everyday lives.
In some cases, our interns taught us as much as they learned.
And their curiosity and beginner’s mindset energized us all.
What were your most impactful early career internship experiences?
What made them special?”
