St. Baldrick’s Foundation – A Moment of Love He Never Forgot
St. Baldrick’s Foundation posted on LinkedIn:
“In 2021, at age 19, Edward was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. Over the next 2.5 years, he endured chemotherapy, surgeries, and complications from treatment with remarkable resilience. He pursued mechanical engineering while undergoing treatment, remained an avid Formula 1 fan, and made waffles for his family on race days. He never stopped learning. Never stopped smiling.
In June 2022, Edward rang the bell to mark the end of treatment. That same day, seven close friends shaved their heads in solidarity, a moment of love he never forgot.
But just a few months later, scans revealed the cancer had returned and spread. Despite facing additional treatments, a leg amputation, and lung complications, Edward kept his humor, compassion, and drive. On January 16, 2024, surrounded by love, Edward passed away.
This past June, Edward’s family honored his life with a head-shaving event. His mom, Avril McKean Dieser, and a few close friends shaved their heads in his memory.
“I promised Edward that I would not stop fighting for him and this disease,” she said.
Together, they raised over $40,000 for St. Baldrick’s. Help support kids like Edward this Sarcoma Awareness Month and help fund the most promising childhood cancer research.”
