Highlights from DiCE Masterclass 2025 by Digestive Cancers Europe
The DiCE General Assembly and 10th Annual Masterclass 2025 took place from July 2 to July 4, 2025, in Barcelona, Spain. This milestone event marked ten years of the Masterclass, bringing together patient advocates from across Europe who focus on digestive cancers.
The event featured hands-on workshops, expert scientific lectures, and networking opportunities, all designed to enhance the knowledge, skills, and collaboration among DiCE member organisations committed to advancing patient advocacy and care. During the Masterclass, participants reflected on a progress in digestive cancer advocacy and shared best practices to tackle ongoing challenges.
“Day 1 of DiCE Masterclass 2025 kicked off with energy, ideas, and an incredible group of people. We heard powerful updates from our Member Organisations and connected over shared goals.
As the discussion continues today with interesting sessions on updates in cancer care, mental health, shared decision-making and AI in patient advocacy, let’s keep the spirit strong!”
“Day 2 of the DiCE Masterclass 2025 had a powerful start!
We deep-dived into the future of cancer care with global leaders in oncology.
The discussion centred on cutting-edge clinical trial results recently unveiled at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), as well as promising transplantation options for cancer patients.
This means improved survival times, better outcomes, and an enhanced quality of life for patients.
Stay tuned for more updates on our masterclass.”
“We have a NEW BOARD! DiCE Masterclass 2025 and general assembly have kicked off with the updates on our work and the election of the DiCE board!
Stay tuned for more highlights and news!”
“This afternoon at DiCE Masterclass 25, we explored mental health through powerful patient-led discussions, laying the groundwork for DiCE’s upcoming Mental Health Booklet.
We also held a hands-on session on shared decision-making, which reminded us that real patient-centred care starts with listening.
We closed the day with an energising look at how AI can help patient organisations amplify their voice and impact.
Tomorrow, we will wrap up our masterclass and are eager for our final day of key discussions on shaping the future of cancer care.”
“The last day of DiCE Masterclass 2025 has kicked off with a session on “Advancing Access for Patients Across Europe”.
Better access to medicines starts with better policies. Julie Marechal-Jamil and Julia Pike discussed how biosimilars can help health systems reduce costs and expand access, particularly in cancer care. But smart policy is essential to make this happen.
– Biosimilars increase competition
– Off-patent medicines reduce prices
– Savings can address unmet patient needs
Reform is needed to ensure the patent system works for public health, not against it. Improving access is achievable, but not automatic. At DiCE, we collaborate with patients to make medicines more accessible and equitable across Europe.”
