“Prepare for AI disruption, with a particular focus on leadership understanding and strategic planning.
Spending this week with CEOs and Business Owners in Davos, there is one topic that is clearly top of the agenda: Artificial Intelligence.
Today, we published a report titled ‘Leadership in the Age of AI’ – co-authored by Kearney and Egon Zehnder – that highlights significant insights into business leaders’ perceptions and readiness for AI transformation. Here’s a breakdown of the key findings:
1. Lack of Preparedness:
73% of business leaders believe their companies will face disruption due to AI in the next five years.
Only 20% of leaders feel their organizations are currently prepared for AI disruption.
2. Challenges in AI Adoption:
73% of leaders attribute their lack of preparedness to constraints in time, people, and funds.
51% believe a lack of understanding about AI among leaders contributes to the challenge.
3. Leadership Understanding:
Among those who feel prepared, 89% credit their leadership team’s understanding of AI and its capabilities.
4. Perception of AI as an Opportunity:
Despite challenges, 85% of business leaders see AI as an opportunity for their organizations.
Over 90% view AI as a personal opportunity within their roles.
5. Preparations and Strategies:
49% of organizations are investing in infrastructure to prepare for AI.
44% are forming external partnerships to enhance their AI capabilities.
39% are recruiting expert talent to navigate the AI landscape.
6. Leadership’s Role:
The report emphasizes the critical role of leadership in understanding the impact of AI on their business and guiding their organizations accordingly.
Despite the accelerating pace of AI adoption, the report suggests it’s never too late for leaders to devise a clear AI strategy.
7. Optimism and Action:
The prevailing sentiment among leaders is optimism about AI.
The challenge is to translate this optimism into tangible action, ensuring both leaders and their teams are ready to navigate challenges and embrace the opportunities presented by AI.
In summary, the report underscores the urgency for organizations to prepare for AI disruption, with a particular focus on leadership understanding and strategic planning.
Congratulations to the team: Burcu Bicakci, Michael Meier, Benjamin Lüpschen, Mirko Warschun, Ramyani Basu, Alex Liu, Catharina Roltsch.”
