Diana Cejas: Why aren’t we listening to them?

Diana Cejas, at , shared a post by Mark Lewis on X, adding:

“I was 25 and in med school when I found my neuroendocrine tumor. A lot of my physicians then (and during the 5 years it took to get a diagnosis) thought that I was just anxious.

How many disabled and chronically ill young people have these same stories? Why aren’t we listening to them?”

Quoting Mark Lewis‘s post:

I was 30 and already a doctor who had finished residency when I suspected I had a germline cancer syndrome. But my physician at the time initially thought I was a hypochondriac.

We need to change our threshold of concern in young patients — age is porous protection indeed.
