Katy Beckermann: New Paper in Nature Cancer – UnitedMet Enables Metabolic Profiling from RNA-Seq
Katy Beckermann, Medical Director of GU Clinical Research at Tennessee Oncology, posted on X:
“Exciting new paper in Nature Cancer: UnitedMet—a Bayesian model that imputes metabolite levels from RNA-seq data, enabling metabolic profiling without direct metabolite measurements.
Congrats Ed Reznik and Wesley Tansey on this exciting work.
Highlights:
- Joint modeling of RNA-seq + metabolomics
- Histology-associated metabolic differences across RCC subtypes
- BAP1 mutations in ccRCC linked to oxidative metabolic phenotype
- Enables metabolomic inference without needing direct measurements
A cool new way to go from genotype metabolism.”
