EU cancer community urges action on workforce gaps – European Cancer Organisation
European Cancer Organisation (ECO) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Cancer care in Europe is at risk.
Doctors and nurses are reporting ‘burn out’: Poor mental health, long hours, and difficult working conditions are pushing them to the brink.
A recent ECO survey of European cancer professionals found that:
- 52% say the workload is exhausting
- 55% struggle with red tape
- 1 in 12 plan to quit within 5 years
The European cancer community is calling on EU institutions and national governments to adopt a coordinated action plan to address oncology and health workforce gaps.
Huge thanks to policymakers like Vytenis Andriukaitis for championing political unity to tackle the Cancer Workforce crisis.
