Robin Zon Highlights the Role of Volunteers in Cancer Research Advocacy at ASCO 2024-2025
Robin Zon, President of ASCO 2024-2025, shared the following on LinkedIn in response to the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s post:
“What an honor to be surrounded with such dedicated colleagues ! This is only one example of how important our Volunteers are to our organization and our patients. Today we discussed Cancer research funding , prior authorization and drug shortages. All 50 states plus DC were represented. Today we had the opportunity to advocate on the Hill- but you can use your voice as well – learn more at ASCO.org/ACTNETWORK”
This LinkedIn post from ASCO President Robin Zon highlights the organization’s ongoing advocacy efforts. A key focus of the discussion with colleagues, representing all U.S. states and D.C., was the critical need for sustained cancer research funding. The conversation also addressed significant barriers to patient care, including the complexities of prior authorization processes and the increasingly concerning issue of drug shortages. Zon emphasizes the importance of volunteer participation in ASCO’s mission and encourages broader public engagement in advocacy through the ASCO Action Network.
Quoting the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO)‘s post
“The 10th annual ASCO Advocacy Summit is in full swing on Capitol Hill! Our advocates from across the country are urging Congress to prioritize federal research funding, Fix Prior Auth, and help end drug shortages.
Add your voice to this effort.”
