E. Shyam P. Reddy: Cathleen Gerenger joined Bloom TV Host Gayle Guyardo to discuss long COVID symptoms

“Chiropractic physician Dr. Cathleen Gerenger joined Gayle Guyardo, host of the global health and wellness show Bloom, to discuss long COVID symptoms and the findings of a recent Yale study linking persistent spike protein to Post-Vaccination Syndrome (PVS) and immune dysregulation.
Emerging Evidence on Post-Vaccination Syndrome
A groundbreaking study from Yale University has identified distinct immunological patterns in individuals experiencing persistent health issues after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. Published on medRxiv, the research highlights immune dysregulation, increased inflammation markers, and prolonged spike protein presence in circulation months to years after vaccination.
Guyardo, who was diagnosed with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) reactivation following her COVID-19 vaccination, spoke about her own experience. Blood tests revealed no prior history of mononucleosis, a condition commonly linked to EBV, raising further questions about immune system responses post-vaccination.
Key Findings of the Yale Study
Led by Dr. Akiko Iwasaki and colleagues, the Yale Listen study examined 42 individuals with PVS and compared them to 22 healthy vaccinated controls. The study revealed:
Persistent Spike Protein: Some PVS participants had detectable SARS-CoV-2 spike protein in their bloodstream up to 709 days post-vaccination, mirroring patterns seen in long COVID cases.
Heightened Inflammation: Participants exhibited increased TNFα-expressing CD8+ T cells, a marker of inflammation often linked to autoimmune-like activity.
Immune Imbalance: Reduced levels of IL-4+ and IL-6+ CD4+ T cells, which regulate immune response, were observed, potentially contributing to symptoms such as fatigue, neuropathy, cognitive dysfunction, and pain.
Epstein-Barr Virus Reactivation: Elevated anti-EBV gp42 IgG titers suggested that latent EBV infections may be reactivated in individuals experiencing PVS, a phenomenon also seen in long COVID and chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS).
Neuromodulatory Deficiencies: Significant reductions in fetuin A, neurotensin, and β-endorphins—molecules crucial for pain perception, neuroprotection, and inflammation regulation—may explain symptoms like chronic pain and brain fog.”
