Shruti Jolly: Treating lung cancer with immunotherapy and radiation without chemotherapy
Shruti Jolly, Associate Director for the Statewide Cancer Network at Michigan Medicine, shared on LinkedIn:
“Treating lung cancer with immunotherapy and radiation without chemotherapy – this new research included our patients from the University of Michigan Radiation Oncology, Montefiore Einstein Comprehensive Cancer Center, and others.
The study published in JCO led by Nitin Ohri in suggests Pembrolizumab and risk-adapted radiotherapy, without chemotherapy, offer promising results for patients with advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (LA-NSCLC) and a PD-L1 TPS of ≥50%. The 1-year survival rate was high at 76% with minimal adverse events.
An inspiring step towards more effective, tolerable cancer treatments!”
