Cristian Ochoa Arnedo: Vital Impact in the face of cancer
Cristian Ochoa Arnedo, Chief of the Digital Health Program ICOnnecta’t in Catalan Institute of Oncology, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“University of Barcelona Catalan Institute of Oncology Chair on Psychosocial Humanization: ‘Vital Impact in the face of cancer’.
Thanks to the Spanish Association Against Cancer for once again rewarding and facilitating significant funding to create a Chair aimed at the transfer of knowledge that improves the humanization of cancer care. How?
Humanizing the care of people with cancer and their caregivers implies valuing and positively impacting their lives, and not only treating or reducing the disease.
Humanizing facilitates access to psychological and psychosocial treatments that help to situate the experience of cancer in one’s own personal history, which incorporates the core aspects of who we are in order to understand ourselves and find, if possible, better balances after the disease.
Humanizing is improving meetings, communication and the relationship with health professionals so that the lives of patients and caregivers and their context are a source of information and key care.
Humanizing is understanding that cancer health professionals are people exposed to wear and tear that impacts their quality of life and professional performance, which must be attended to and treated.”
