Maite Gorostegui: Working Towards a 60% Survival Rate for Childhood Cancers by 2030
Maite Gorostegui, Pediatric Oncologist at Pediatric Cancer Center Barcelona, shared on LinkedIn:
“On February 15th we are celebrating the International Childhood Cancer Day.
It represents again an opportunity to think about the thousands of children and adolescents that are diagnosed every year, and the ones that unfortunately cannot even be diagnosed in their countries, or the ones that cannot afford treatment.
The international cancer community, under the lead of the WHO is working with the aim of achieve in 2030 at least 60% of survival for common childhood cancers.
Only five years left…and so much to do.
Instead thinking it would not be possible, we need to continue with the work, keeping things simple, and joining others.
Does not matter where do you live, everyone can find his way to help. I am very thankful having had the opportunity to collaborate during 2024 with the CANCaRe Africa Local Evidence Campaign. It was amazing to share the core of the publications with the community, and to confirm how this organization has had a tremendous impact on the region.
If you are not yet following CANCaRe Africa join them now, and learn from the voice of the families.”
