Medicaid Cancer Foundation attends C/Can and ASCO’s Leadership Programme for Women in Oncology

“At Medicaid Cancer Foundation, we were honoured to be invited to the launch of City Cancer Challenge and American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO)’s Leadership Programme for Women in Oncology (LPWO) in Abuja—a global program designed to empower women oncologists from nine C/Can cities to lead the future of cancer care. This program will equip women oncologists with the knowledge and leadership skills needed to drive transformative change in their communities.
As Dr Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu, our founder and LPWO Champion recently remarked, ‘Advancing gender equity in leadership is not just about fairness; it’s a powerful catalyst for economic and social transformation.’ Thanks to this event, the Abuja cancer care community is sending a strong message – by investing in women leaders, we strengthen health systems that promote equity and sustainability.
We’re excited for these women as they embark on their learning journey, and we can’t wait to see the wonderful achievements they’ll accomplish!
This gathering was made possible through the steadfast support of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare Nigeria, the Federal Capital Territory Administration, and the National Institute for Cancer Research and Treatment, and Roche, who hosted a gala reception and policy dialogue to address critical issues in cancer care.”
