A surgery performed at the Johns Hopkins Hospital could reduce cancer recurrence and improve survival for patients with liver metastasis from advanced colorectal cancer
In a post by Johns Hopkins Medicine on Linkedin, it says, “Among the first times in the U.S. — and the world — surgeons at The Johns Hopkins Hospital have performed a blend of the surgical procedures associating liver partition and portal vein ligation for staged hepatectomy (ALPPS), and hepatic artery infusion (HAI) pump implantation. This approach could reduce cancer recurrence and improve survival for patients with liver metastasis from advanced colorectal cancer, doctors say.”
