The effect of exercise in aiding cancer treatment and mitigating the treatment side-effects, suggested by Christopher Fitzmaurice
Christopher Fitzmaurice, Clinical Exercise Physiologist at University of Miami Health System, shared an article by Fabio Casciano on LinkedIn:
“The very first sentence of this article within the abstract, “The primary factors that can be modified in one’s lifestyle are the most influential determinants and significant preventable causes of various types of cancer” has never been more true.
Yes there are a myriad of factors and associations linked with causing cancer but the lifestyle factors are what we have the most control of and can make a great impact when it comes to cancer prevention and even treatment.
When it comes to the different lifestyle prevention strategies, exercise has synergistic effects as cancer treatment itself. The effect of exercise on the immune system is strong and thus plays an important role aiding cancer treatment and mitigating the treatment side-effects for cancer survivors.
Even though more research is needed to understand more of the role of exercise on the immune system, it should be regarded as a primary strategy for prevention and treatment for cancer survivors.
Great review!”
