Megan-Claire Chase: The different layers of advocacy, both in the public eye and behind the scenes
Megan-Claire Chase, Breast Cancer Program Director for SHARE Cancer Support and Freelance Writer for Various Companies shared on LinkedIn:
“The feedback from the cancer community on this piece, published last year, was truly meaningful. A heartfelt thank you to Everyday Health and Senior Health Editor Eugenia Yun for giving me the opportunity to write about the topic of advocacy.
Many cancer survivors may feel a sense of pressure to accomplish something significant once they reach the survivorship stage. What I’ve come to realize is that the term ‘advocate’ can be overwhelming, and many people aren’t sure what advocacy in this context truly means. Not everyone feels comfortable being in the spotlight. That’s why I wrote this piece to explore the different layers of advocacy, both in the public eye and behind the scenes, and to highlight how you might already be advocating for yourself without even realizing it.”
