Edward Cliff: We highlight the overuse of terms such as ‘tolerable’, ‘manageable’ and ‘acceptable’ in reports of clinical trials
Edward Cliff, Fellow at Harvard Medical School and Brigham & Women’s Hospital, made the following post on LinkedIn:
“Pleased to share our manuscript just out in JAMA Network Open, where we highlight the overuse of terms such as ‘tolerable’, ‘manageable’ and ‘acceptable’ in reports of clinical trials, and show that the use of these terms does not correlate with the actual rates of serious adverse events. We must encourage honest reporting of AEs and increased use and reporting of patient-reported outcomes.
Well done Mimi Najjar!”
