Brian Shields: Great AI outputs require exceptional data
Brian Shields, Founder of KOL Pulse, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“As I’m monitoring ASH24 and the output of our KOL Pulse AI tools for our important users, I’m reminded of the many conversations I’ve had with folks regarding my business model.
Early on, my goal was to create the best curation engine for healthcare as I recognized that KOL conversations at Medical Conferences held invaluable insights. As most startups learn the hard way, I figured out that most of my customers didn’t like to curate.
So then I figured that I was good at curating, so I could offer my curated data on an efficient and effective CRM light platform.
With KOL Pulse AI, I’m acting a bit like a chef does from French Laundry in Wine Country. I’m not claiming that I’m an expert chef…but I do like to design recipes for data consumption.
The Recipe I’m using is our AI intelligence Application KOL Pulse which is built using the latest AI technologies offered to the development community. From here, I need to find the right pots and pans to cook my ingredients (data). Then I need to mix all my ingredients together in a beautiful presentation, that tastes good to the user.
Sometimes I need a frying pan for a quick answer. Other times I need to slow cook the data for an impressive AI generated visualization. Of course, I need a system in place so my users don’t send back their food to the kitchen!!
The reason I share this analogy is because the end result is really based on curating the best ingredients. This is where most AI products fail in healthcare. There’s just so much data! Bad data is like a bad ingredient in your French Laundry meal. It ruins the experience.
For this reason I hand curate the data that I serve through KOL Pulse AI. These data are tweets, videos, images, etc that I feel will be the building blocks of an exceptional data insight experience. Also, this isn’t McDonalds!
Great AI outputs require exceptional data and also preparation of the data for an AI engine.”
