Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu: National Task Force on Cervical Cancer Elimination
Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu shared on LinkedIn:
“A National Task Force on Cervical Cancer Elimination was created three months ago tasked with helping Nigeria achieve World Health Organization’s 90-70-90 targets. Chaired by Prof. Isaac Adewole with myself as vice-chair, we held an in-person retreat at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Lagos. The retreat provided a platform to brainstorm on the task ahead and strategies suited to our context to help us achieve for the targets.
During the discussions, we developed a roadmap to guide engagements with stakeholders across sectors over the coming months. Key topics included innovative screening methods like HPV DNA testing, accessible platforms, self sampling, digital solutions for organized screening, and the importance of community ownership and advocacy in driving change. With this group of experts, we are one step closer to a cervical cancer-free Nigeria.”
