“Last week, I led a City Cancer Challenge delegation in Nairobi for meetings with city stakeholders, including the leadership of the Ministry of Health, Kenya, the Social Health Authority and the Nairobi City County.
Together, we marked a pivotal milestone in the C/Can Nairobi journey: the completion of a deep analysis of the city’s cancer care landscape. This effort has given a clear, evidence-based roadmap that pinpoints exactly where to focus —from improving the patients journey, training health workers, to making essential medicines available to everyone who needs them. Firmly grounded in local realities, this roadmap sets out a bold, ambitious vision for equitable, effective cancer care in Nairobi and Kenya at large.
With the strong political will already demonstrated at every level —national and county, and an engaged community including patient groups, Nairobi has the opportunity to transform its health system by turning this vision into action. No one should be left behind.”
