Jason Westin is a candidate for a position on the Board of Directors for ASCO.
The ASCO Nominating Committee has selected 13 distinguished members as candidates for leadership positions within the Society.
ASCO encourages all eligible members to vote for the new leaders of the Society.
Eligible members include those holding a Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathy, Doctor of Philosophy, Doctor of Pharmacy, Doctor of Medical Science, Doctor of Nursing Science, Doctor of Nursing Practice, or an equivalent doctoral-level degree recognized by the Society and the Association, and who are in good standing as of October 14, 2024. Voting in the ASCO Election will earn eligible members a FASCO point.
The voting period ends on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 3:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. All ballots, whether submitted online or by paper, must be received by this deadline.

Jason Westin M.D., M.S., FACP is the Professor and Service Line Leader of the Department of Lymphoma/Myeloma at the MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Dr. Jason Westin is a professor and physician-scientist specializing in lymphoma, currently serving as the Service Line Leader for the Department of Lymphoma/Myeloma, Director of Lymphoma Clinical Research, and Section Chief of Aggressive Lymphoma at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
He specialises in the clinical management and research of aggressive lymphomas, particularly Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL), and has led groundbreaking clinical trials and drug development efforts aimed at improving patient outcomes.
Dr. Westin has held numerous leadership roles within major oncology organizations, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), where he served as Chair and Past Chair of the Government Relations Committee, Chair of the ASCO Finance Committee, and as a member of several key committees, including Health Policy, Cancer Communications, and Clinical Practice and Innovations. He was also an inaugural member of the ASCO Political Action Committee (PAC) Advisory Council.
His leadership at MD Anderson extends to various positions, including his roles as Service Line Leader for Lymphoma/Myeloma, Section Chief of Aggressive Lymphoma, Director of Lymphoma Clinical Research, and Chair of Hematology Grand Rounds.
He has also been deeply involved in the mentorship of medical trainees and fellows and has served on several advisory boards and steering committees, including for the MS/PhD program in Clinical and Translational Sciences and the Hematology Oncology Fellowship Program at the University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.
Education
Dr. Jason Westin completed his undergraduate education at the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, graduating Cum Laude in 1998.
He continued his education at the same institution, earning his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in 2002, and was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society.
Dr. Westin pursued further education at the University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences in Houston, where he obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Clinical and Translational Sciences in 2015.
His postgraduate training includes a clinical residency in internal medicine at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill from 2002 to 2005. He then completed a clinical fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston from 2008 to 2011, where he also served as Chief Fellow during the final year of his training.
After completing his clinical fellowship, Dr. Westin pursued a research fellowship as an Advanced Scholar in Lymphoma at MD Anderson from 2011 to 2012, further honing his expertise in lymphoma research and clinical care.
