Emma Walmsley: I’ve been very lucky in my career to have had encouragement, sponsorship, and honest advice to support me along the way
Emma Walmsley, CEO of GSK, recently shared on LinkedIn:
“I’ve been very lucky in my career to have had encouragement, sponsorship, and honest advice to support me along the way. And I’ve seen firsthand how mentoring can open more doors and make the most enormous difference in how people see and realize their potential.
Today I was so proud to announce our 10-year commitment to boost STEM education and career progression among under-represented groups in the UK, starting with expanding mentoring with five new partners. At GSK, we’re tackling some of the toughest challenges with the very best advances in science and technology, but it’s people, in their glorious diversity, who will realize the impact these advances make possible. Diverse teams perform better, innovate better, and help us to better understand the diverse patients we serve.
After spending time today with these inspiring innovators of the future, I can say that the future of our industry and STEM in general is looking bright (and very fun too). Together, we will get ahead of some of the world’s biggest challenges.”
