“Introducing Professor Raymond Chan, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) and Matthew Flinders Professor of Cancer Care, Systems, and Policy at Flinders University.
With a career dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by cancer, Ray’s research focuses on enhancing models of care, health services, and policy responses during the cancer survivorship phase. Having published over 250 peer-reviewed articles and attracted more than $40 million in research funding, Ray’s work has shaped cancer care and survivorship practices across Australia and internationally.
Ray’s contribution to nursing practice, education, and research is widely recognized. He is a Fellow of the Australian College of Nursing (ACN) and a past President of the Cancer Nurses Society Of Australia (CNSA). In his leadership roles, Ray has influenced national cancer care policies, serving as an advisor to Cancer Australia and holding key positions with the Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC), and the Clinical Oncology Society of Australia (COSA).
Ray’s contributions have been honoured through numerous awards, including the HESTA Australian Nursing Awards and induction into the Sigma Theta Tau International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame.
