Sarah Quinlan: Radiotherapy UK will keep pushing for equal access for all to modern radiotherapy across the UK
Sarah Quinlan, Director at Radiotherapy UK, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Hot on the heels of our ‘Unlocking modern radiotherapy’ report launch in House of Commons last week, today the Government has announced £70M for new radiotherapy treatment machines!
This is a very welcome first step in the urgent need to move the dial on cancer treatment in the UK and cure more patients with cancer, quicker.
Led by our inspirational Chair Pat Price, and alongside the radiotherapy workforce, patients and community we have campaigned long and hard to raise awareness of the potential of modern radiotherapy to improve treatment for cancer patients. More than half a million people have signed the Catch Up With Cancer petition.
We’ll keep pushing for equal access for all to modern radiotherapy across the UK. Our goal is to help more cancer patients get better, faster. We still need ongoing, long-term investment in this life-saving treatment and the amazing workforce who provide it, and this is a great first step towards realising this. “
