The Invent@SC Program seeks to train early-career scientists from underrepresented biotech backgrounds

Jim Olson, Principal Investigator at Seattle Children’s Research Institute, shared on LinkedIn:

“The $45 million Invent@SC Postdoctoral Scholars Program seeks to train the next generation of early career scientists from backgrounds historically underrepresented in or excluded from biotech.

Invent@SC scholars may choose lab mentors from Seattle Children’s, University of Washington, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, and Benaroya Research Institute. World renowned biotech leaders and clinicians will serve as co-mentors. The Scholars will also complete relevant coursework and participate in development activities that will further equip them for the business side of biotechnology. Candidates may apply up to six months prior to PhD degree completion.

Scholars accepted into the program will receive:
·      starting salary of $70k+ per year for 3 years with potential for years 4-5
·      full employment benefits
·      $10k for professional development
·      up to $10k for relocation expenses
