Douglas Flora: Don’t let imposter syndrome stop you

Douglas Flora posted the following on LinkedIn:

“Imposter Syndrome & Hidden Potential

I heard the phrase imposter syndrome three times this week — from three different people who are absolutely spectacular but don’t (yet) recognize it. It’s always a reminder of how often we underestimate our own abilities. Perfect timing for this week’s read: Adam Grant’s Hidden Potential.

As I spent my weekend in Sedona recharging, I couldn’t help but reflect on this quote: ‘When multiple people believe in you, it’s probably time to believe them.’

Imposter syndrome has a way of making us feel like we’ve accidentally wandered into the wrong room. But here’s the thing: you belong in that room! And as leaders, it’s our job to help others stop questioning whether they deserve to be there and start believing in themselves. If we don’t, who will?

So, let’s not let self-doubt settle in. The sooner we trust in our own potential — and help others do the same — the faster we can start unlocking what we’re truly capable of. Guys, I’m 53 now and just starting to feel like I’m getting this!

Here’s to showing up, growing, and helping others realize they’ve got it, too.”
