Raising Breast Cancer Awareness: 30th anniversary of the Stop Breast Cancer for Life Campaign

The Stop Breast Cancer for Life campaign is an annual initiative by Lifetime that partners with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).

It raises awareness and empower women to prioritize their health. The Stop Breast Cancer for Life campaign emphasizes the importance of early detection and individualized screenings, particularly as breast cancer rates among younger women are on the rise. The campaign has partnered with stars like Lyndsy Fonseca, Karrueche Tran, and Jackie Cruz to address the increasing rates of breast cancer among younger women

This year, the campaign features prominent figures such as First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, actress Keshia Knight Pulliam, and TV correspondent Rachel Lindsay. They participate in public service announcements (PSAs) encouraging women to discuss their personal risk factors and screening options with their healthcare providers.

Dr. Dorraya El-Ashry, BCRF‘s Chief Scientific Officer, expressed gratitude for Lifetime’s ongoing support in raising awareness about breast cancer. She highlighted the need for continued efforts to improve early detection and treatment outcomes.

“We are grateful for Lifetime’s continued support in raising awareness about breast cancer and advancing our mission. While the incidence of breast cancer in younger women remains low, diagnoses in women under 50 are rising. We’re making strides in understanding the disease better and improving care for younger patients, with the goal of reversing this trend. Lifetime’s ongoing commitment to highlighting breast cancer year after year plays a vital role in propelling this lifesaving research forward.” – Dorraya El-Ashry

In addition to the PSAs, the campaign includes breast cancer-themed films available on Lifetime platforms throughout October, further promoting awareness and education about the disease. Overall, the Stop Breast Cancer for Life campaign aims to inspire women to take control of their health and advocate for necessary screenings and research funding.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Lifetime’s campaign, which includes public service announcements (PSAs) that will air on Lifetime and various digital platforms. The campaign will also feature four films centered on breast cancer, including the anthology FIVE, directed by notable filmmakers like Jennifer Aniston and Demi Moore.
