Animal-Assisted Therapy in Cancer program by ACS and ECHO

American Cancer Society shared on LinkedIn:

“Are you seeking ways to improve the quality of life for children and teens with cancer?

Join the American Cancer Society for an ECHO program on Animal-Assisted Therapy in Cancer.

Research has shown that animal-assisted therapy reduces pain, procedural distress, and anxiety while enhancing comfort, well-being, and positive experiences in the hospital for children and teens with cancer and their caregivers.

Participation is FREE and open to all.

Register now.

This 6-month program will explore the therapeutic benefits of animal-assisted interventions, particularly through facility dogs, develop strategies for effectively integrating them into cancer care for patients, and address challenges to providing animal-assisted therapy in oncology settings.

Sessions will be held once a month for one hour, starting November 7th, 2024, through April 3rd, 2025. This activity is pre-approved and meets the Association of Child Life Professionals’ standards for 6 professional development units (PDUs).”
