Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu: I am now a proud member of the African Breast Cancer Council
Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I’m pleased to share that I am now a proud member of the African Breast Cancer Council! Our inaugural meeting was held virtually on August 1, 2024. It was a fruitful one.
Research highlights that African women bear a disproportionate burden of breast cancer, with 186,000 women in Africa hearing the words, “You have breast cancer,” every year.
The ABCC aims to ensure that by 2030, 8 out of 10 African women diagnosed with breast cancer survive. Through raising awareness, highlighting the ripple effects of this disease, and driving positive lifestyles, we aim to improve the lives of thousands of women across the continent.
With this council, in addition to being a member of WHO’s global breast cancer initiative, I have two platforms to leverage on to reduce the burden of breast cancer, in Nigeria and worldwide.
Join us on the 19th of October, during breast cancer awareness month for our 10th walk away cancer. Together, we can turn the tide.”
