“During the last week, I had the honor to witness and participate in variable high-level meetings showing the unwavering commitment, passionate to make a difference and collaborative work making the fight against cancer a global force for unity.

On the sideline of the World Cancer Congress, a distinguished external session inside the United Nations Building in Geneva organized by the World Health Organization highlighting access to treatment and technologies in breast cancer management, what have been achieved and what are the challenges across the different countries in presence of top ranked experts, policy makers and healthcare leaders.

I was proud to introduce the Egyptian Experience and our national strategy against breast cancer and distinguished outcomes in alignment with the Global Breast Cancer Initiative through increased access to cancer care services for screening, diagnosis, and treatment achieving value based, patient centered module.

Impressive results reflecting political commitment, dedicated teams and adaptive methodology turning the dream into reality and setting real-world evidence that Egypt could be a role model especially for LMICs and countries with large population.”

Dr. Hesham ElGhazaly is an oncologist and founder of Alfa Cure Oncology Center. He serves as a member of the IARC Scientific Committee at the International Agency for Research on Cancer, part of the World Health Organization. He also leads the Presidential Initiative for Women’s Health at Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population and heads MASRI at Ain Shams University. As a professor in the Clinical Oncology Department at Ain Shams University, he is dedicated to advancing cancer treatment and research.
