Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu: Cancer in Nigeria now faces a well-organized army of fighters, under the NICRAT umbrella
Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu shared a post on LinkedIn:
“During the World Cancer Congress, we came together one evening, for far more than just a meal—it was a meeting of minds dedicated to transforming cancer care in Nigeria and globally.
Hosted by National Institute for Cancer Research and Treatment (NICRAT), the evening saw the attendance of regional and continental representatives from Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) member organizations, to engage in conversation on how global partnerships can improve cancer outcomes, especially in resource-constrained settings.
The birth of NICRAT is one I am immensely proud of. Since its inception, the agency has indeed lived up to the expectations of those of us who fought to ensure its start-up. The journey ahead is still tortuous, but with the leadership of Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate and Dr. Tunji Alausa, we are very hopeful.
Cancer in Nigeria now faces a well-organized army of fighters, under the NICRAT umbrella. Whilst appreciating the entire team, I call on partners far and wide, to join hands with them for greater success. We are united against cancer by a shared commitment to advancing research, treatment, and prevention for all.”
