Dr. Michael Steinberg is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at UCLA’s David Geffen School of Medicine. He specializes in health policy issues, clinical oncology (particularly prostate, breast, and head and neck cancers), and serves as the Director of Clinical Affairs for the Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center.
A leader in health policy, he is the founding Chair of the Health Policy Council for the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) and was its President from 2010 to 2014. In 2017, he received the ASTRO Gold Medal for his contributions to patient care and research. He has also served on the American Medical Association’s CPT Editorial Panel and the CMS Medicare Evidence and Coverage Advisory Committee. Currently, he is involved with the California Technical Assessment Forum, focusing on the effectiveness of medical treatments.
