Sachin H. Jain: What does it take to be a leader?
Sachin H. Jain shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I was reminded this morning by a close friend that there are so many settings in which people confuse succcess and leadership.
The two are not the same thing and the two are not mutually exclusive.
What’s the difference?
Success = I’ve mastered the game
Leadership = I’ve changed the game
When we call someone a ‘leader’ are we honoring their success or are we honoring their impact?
Usually it’s the former and not the latter.
What does it take to be a leader?
-Being driven by something bigger than your own place or personal wants and needs
-Being willing to take and defend unconventional and unpopular positions to quit normalizing abnormal behaviors
-A deep willingness to make something better—even if it is at your own expense.
In short, sacrifice.”
