Marielle McLeod: Thank You Cancer for the silver lining that you never intended me to see

“Dear cancer,
Never in a million years could I have ever dreamt of what my life would look like much less be like once you came into my life.
You swept in with an unsolicited vengeance and tried to reek havoc on all that I had worked so hard to achieve. However, in the middle of your power struggle, you awakened a beast that sat dormant for too long. You just had no clue whom you summoned. The sass and spice were no match to what you had in store for me.
Advocacy is hard. I have spent years finding my voice and it’s finally resonating with those that are open to hearing it. It is exceptionally challenging and disappointing at times.
I have been afforded the incredible honor to speak at this year’s WMIC24 conference in Montreal, Canada, on the importance of the patient voice in clinical design. How awesome is that!
