Joshua Omale: The role of family support in childhood cancer care

“Day 3: The role of family support in childhood cancer care.
The journey through childhood cancer is not one that any family chooses, but if it happens, the strength of family support becomes the foundation on which everything else is built.
I learned this firsthand with my brother, Joseph. The late nights in hospital rooms, and the quiet moments of holding on to hope—all of it was made bearable because we had each other.
My parents’ unwavering support, the way we leaned on one another, and the resilience we found in the face of adversity is something I will never forget. It taught me that while the disease is formidable, the love and support of a family can be even more powerful.
As we mark Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, let’s remember the families who are walking this difficult path and find ways to support them, both emotionally and practically.”
