Genetic interactions that shape tumorigenesis
Vincent Lam, medical oncologist at Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center, shared a post by Monte Winslow’s Lab, on X:
“Cool stuff from Monte Winslow’s Lab further suggesting that variant 3 is more oncogenic; perhaps other ‘short’ EML4-ALK fusions too.
Also, tumor suppressors have variant-specific impact.
On the road towards personalizing ALK therapy…”
Quoting for Monte Winslow’s Lab post:
“Amazing collaboration between Emily Shuldiner and Alberto Diaz using somatic genome editing to model 60 different genotypes of EML4-ALK lung cancer. Genetics say that Variant 1 and Variant 3 should be considered distinct oncogenes.
EML4-ALK variant-specific genetic interactions shape lung tumorigenesis
